VW MK1 Rabbit / Golf / Cabriolet Tail Light to Body Seal
Replacement tail light-to-body seal for Volkswagen MK1 Rabbit, Golf, and Cabriolet models.
This sealing strip installs between the rear tail light housing and the vehicle body, creating a weather-resistant barrier around the lamp assembly. A deteriorated or missing tail light seal can allow water, dirt, and debris to enter around the rear lamp opening and potentially contribute to moisture inside the rear body or luggage compartment.
Original tail light seals commonly become flattened, brittle, deteriorated, or damaged after decades of exposure and repeated removal of the tail light assemblies. This replacement seal is supplied in a 28-inch length and is cut to fit during installation.
The same seal can be used on either the left or right tail light.

Important: Volkswagen used different rear lamp designs during MK1 production. OE 171 945 191 was originally associated with the early smaller rear lamps, but replacement sealing material is also used with the later larger Golf/Cabriolet rear lamps when supplied in sufficient length and trimmed to fit.
This seal is not the original Jetta MK1 tail light gasket. Jetta models used a different factory tail light seal.
