1979-1983 Datsun 280ZX Hood-to-Cowl Seal – Rear Hood Seal
Replacement rear hood-to-cowl weatherstrip for 1979-1983 Datsun 280ZX models.
This rubber seal installs across the rear of the engine compartment near the base of the windshield, sealing the rear edge of the hood against the upper cowl area when the hood is closed.
The hood-to-cowl seal helps reduce the amount of water, dirt, leaves, debris, and engine-compartment fumes that can pass through the rear hood and cowl area. It also provides a cushioned sealing surface between the hood and body.
Original 280ZX cowl seals commonly become hardened, cracked, compressed, torn, or completely deteriorated after decades of exposure to engine heat, sunlight, and weather. Replacing the deteriorated seal restores the weather barrier along the rear edge of the hood and gives the engine compartment a more complete factory-style appearance.

Important: This is the rear hood-to-cowl seal located nearest the windshield.
Plastic mounting pins are included. The mounting holes are not pre-punched into the replacement seal and must be punched during installation. This allows the replacement seal to be properly positioned and the mounting holes matched to the original attachment points on the vehicle.
We recommend first positioning and test-fitting the complete seal, marking each mounting-pin location, and then carefully punching the required holes. Do not punch the mounting holes until the final seal position has been confirmed.
This is not the separate hood seal located at the front of the engine compartment.
The 280ZX uses multiple hood sealing components. Verify the installation location before ordering if replacing more than one hood seal.
