1975-1981 VW Scirocco Mk1 Rear Hatch Glass Seal – CAL Style
CAL-style rear hatch glass weatherstrip for Volkswagen Scirocco Mk1 models. This molded seal installs around the rear window glass in the hatch and seals the glass to the rear hatch panel.
This CAL Style version features a clean, solid-black exterior profile without a groove for the factory chrome / decorative metal trim. It is designed for restorations and custom builds where the original exterior rear-window trim is being eliminated in favor of a smooth black appearance.
Original Scirocco Mk1 rear hatch glass seals commonly become hardened, cracked, shrunken, brittle, or deteriorated after decades of exposure to sunlight and weather. A damaged rear window gasket can allow water, wind, dust, and moisture to enter around the hatch glass and may contribute to corrosion around the window opening.
Replacing the rear hatch glass weatherstrip restores the seal between the rear glass and hatch while providing the clean appearance of a trim-free CAL-style installation.

Important: This is a CAL Style rear hatch glass seal with a smooth exterior profile.
It does NOT have the groove required for the original chrome / decorative metal rear-window trim. The factory exterior trim is eliminated when using this seal, leaving a clean solid-black weatherstrip around the rear hatch glass.
VW OE number 531 845 521 A is provided as the original Scirocco Mk1 rear-window weatherstrip application reference. This CAL-style reproduction intentionally differs from the original trim-style configuration by eliminating the exterior trim groove.
For vehicles retaining the original-style decorative rear-window trim, use the OEM-style grooved Scirocco Mk1 rear hatch glass seal instead.
This seal fits around the rear glass installed in the hatch. It should not be confused with the separate rear hatch-to-body weatherstrip that seals the complete hatch assembly to the vehicle body.
