1975-1981 VW Scirocco Mk1 Rear Hatch-to-Body Weatherstrip
Replacement rear hatch-to-body weatherstrip for Volkswagen Scirocco Mk1 models. This seal installs around the rear body opening and seals against the complete rear hatch when closed.
The hatch weatherstrip helps prevent water, wind, dust, exhaust fumes, and outside debris from entering the rear cargo compartment. After decades of compression and exposure to heat and weather, original seals commonly become hardened, cracked, flattened, torn, shrunken, or brittle, resulting in water leaks, wind noise, and poor sealing around the rear hatch.
This replacement is supplied as a continuous-length weatherstrip rather than a pre-formed molded loop. The seal is fitted around the rear hatch opening, trimmed to the required length, and the two ends are bonded together after final fitment.

Important: This is the rear hatch-to-body weatherstrip. It installs around the body opening and seals against the complete rear hatch assembly when the hatch is closed.
It should not be confused with the rear hatch glass seal, which installs around the rear window glass itself. The rear hatch glass weatherstrip is a separate component.
This replacement is supplied as a continuous cut-to-fit weatherstrip rather than a pre-formed molded loop. Test-fit the complete weatherstrip around the hatch opening before cutting. Once the proper length has been established, trim the seal and bond the ends together using a suitable instant adhesive.
VW OE number 531 827 705 is provided as the original Scirocco Mk1 rear hatch weatherstrip application reference. This replacement uses a continuous cut-to-fit design rather than duplicating the original molded construction.
