OEM-style rear hatch glass weatherstrip for 1975-1981 Volkswagen Scirocco Mk1 models. This molded rear window seal features the exterior groove required for the factory metal/chrome rear window trim.

The weatherstrip installs around the perimeter of the rear hatch glass, retaining and sealing the glass into the hatch frame. Its grooved exterior profile allows the original-style decorative rear window molding to be retained for a factory-correct appearance.

Original Scirocco Mk1 rear hatch glass seals commonly become hardened, cracked, shrunken, brittle, or deteriorated after decades of exposure to sunlight and weather. A failed rear glass gasket can allow water to enter around the hatch glass, contribute to wind noise and moisture accumulation, and lead to corrosion around the rear glass opening and hatch frame.

This reproduction restores the seal between the rear hatch glass and hatch frame while retaining the original-style exterior metal trim.

For vehicles where the factory rear window molding will not be used, a separate CAL Style / Smooth Rear Hatch Glass Seal is available without the exterior trim groove.

This is the weatherstrip that installs around the rear hatch glass itself. It is NOT the rear hatch-to-body weatherstrip that seals the complete hatch against the vehicle body.
