1982-1992 VW Scirocco Mk2 Rear Hatch-to-Body Weatherstrip – 13 Foot
Replacement rear hatch-to-body weatherstrip for Volkswagen Scirocco Mk2 models. This seal installs around the rear body opening and seals against the hatch when the hatch is closed.
The rear hatch weatherstrip helps prevent water, wind, dust, exhaust fumes, and outside debris from entering the rear cargo compartment. Because the seal remains compressed whenever the hatch is closed, original weatherstripping commonly becomes hardened, cracked, flattened, torn, shrunken, or brittle after decades of use.
This replacement is supplied as a 13-foot continuous length rather than a pre-formed molded loop. The weatherstrip is fitted around the rear hatch opening, trimmed to the required length, and the two ends are joined together with a suitable instant adhesive after final fitment.

Important: This is the rear hatch-to-body weatherstrip. It installs around the rear body opening and seals against the complete hatch assembly when closed.
It should not be confused with the separate rear hatch glass seal, which installs around the rear window glass itself.
This replacement is supplied as a 13-foot continuous cut-to-fit weatherstrip rather than a pre-formed molded loop. Test-fit the complete weatherstrip around the hatch opening before cutting. Once the correct length has been established, trim the seal and bond the ends together using a suitable instant adhesive.
VW OE number 171 827 705 C is provided as an original rear hatch weatherstrip application reference. This replacement uses a cut-to-fit continuous weatherstrip design.
