1979-07/1984 VW Golf MK1 Cabriolet / Rabbit Convertible Header Bow Seal
Replacement early-style front convertible top header bow seal for Volkswagen Golf MK1 Cabriolet and Rabbit Convertible models produced from 1979 through July 1984.
This molded rubber weatherstrip installs along the front header bow of the convertible top directly above the windshield. When the top is closed and latched, the seal sits between the convertible top header bow and upper windshield frame, providing the primary weather seal across the front of the folding roof.
Original header bow seals commonly become hardened, compressed, cracked, torn, or deteriorated after decades of exposure to sunlight and weather. A worn front top seal can contribute to water intrusion above the windshield, increased wind noise, drafts, and poor sealing between the convertible top and windshield frame.
This is the early-style header bow seal used through approximately July 1984. Vehicles produced from August 1984 onward use a different later-style header bow seal.

Important: This is the early-style front convertible top header bow seal located directly above the windshield.
It is designed for vehicles produced through approximately July 1984.
Vehicles produced from approximately August 1984 onward use the later-style header bow seal, OEM / OE reference 155 871 349 C.
Because the change occurred during 1984 production, owners of 1984 vehicles should verify the vehicle production date and existing seal configuration before ordering.
This is not a side window-to-top seal, rear convertible top seal, or windshield glass weatherstrip.
Carefully test-fit and position the seal across the complete header bow before final installation.
