VW Mk1 Rabbit Golf Jetta Cabriolet Front Windshield Seal – OEM Style
OEM-style front windshield weatherstrip for Volkswagen Rabbit / Golf Mk1, Jetta Mk1, Rabbit Convertible, and Golf Cabriolet models. This molded windshield gasket installs around the perimeter of the front windshield glass and seals the windshield into the body opening.
This OEM Style version includes the correct groove for installation of the original-style decorative windshield molding / trim. It is designed for restorations where the factory-style exterior windshield trim is being retained, providing the appearance and configuration of the original VW windshield sealing system.
Original Mk1 windshield seals commonly become hardened, cracked, shrunken, brittle, or deteriorated after decades of exposure to sunlight, heat, and weather. Deteriorated windshield rubber can contribute to water intrusion, wind noise, loose exterior trim, and moisture entering around the windshield opening.
Replacing the windshield weatherstrip restores the seal between the windshield glass and body while allowing the original-style decorative windshield molding to be retained.

Important: This is the OEM Style windshield seal with the groove required for the original-style decorative windshield molding / trim.
It should not be confused with the CAL Style / smooth windshield seal, which eliminates the exterior trim groove.
The original decorative windshield molding is not included and must be reused or sourced separately.
VW also produced a smooth windshield seal without the decorative molding groove under OE reference 171 845 121. That is a different configuration and should not be confused with this OEM-style 171 845 121 A seal.
